PRESS RELEASE
Subject : REGISTRATION
OF THE PATIENTS IN SMGS HOSPITAL GOES HIGH TECH:
In SMGS Hospital of Govt. Medical College Jammu, the load of patients
in its OPDs as well as indoor is increasing day by day. The work
load in terms of number of patients reporting to its OPDs and number
of patients admitted per day has become maximum when compared with
any associated hospitals of the Govt. Medical college, Jammu. In
order to streamline the registration process of patients, reporting
to the hospital, the hospital administration has taken the lead
to computerize the registration process. In the first phase, the
OPD registration has been computerized. The patients reporting to
OPDs will get the computerized registration cards with their name,
age, sex, residential address, name of the department to which reporting,
stamp of the doctor with his / her the name and designation and
the OPD/Followup days. The main registration number as well as registration
of the particular OPDs will also be provided at the same place,
which will help to reduce the waiting time at different places i.e.
in front of main registration and then in front of the Sub-registration
area in the particular OPD. This software for SMGS Hospital has
been developed by well established software company of the State
“SAY Technologies”, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu provided to
the hospital free of cost as a social initiative.
Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Medical Superintendent, SMGS Hospital informed
that the OPD registration process has not only been streamlined
but made more accurate. There were many complaints from the patients,
their attendants and the office of Municipal Corporation regarding
spelling mistakes while registration of the patients which was affecting
even the medical legal work of the hospital. Now with computerization
of the registration process, the daily registration of almost 1500
patients for different OPDs in SMGS Hospital, has been streamlined
in an attempt has been made to minimise the errors. The software
is so simple to operate that some class IV employees have been trained
to operate the computers for registration.
The indoor admission will also be computerized for which the modalities
have been worked out, hospital specific software developed, but
due to shortage of manpower and computers, it could not be implemented
simultaneously.
Dr. Rajinder Singh, Principal & Dean, Govt. Medical College
Jammu have appreciated the efforts of the Medical Superintendent,
his team and Surinder Sharma of M/s SAY Technologies, Jammu in computerization
of the OPDs registration and assured of providing two Medical Record
Technician and two computers and printers which is the only requirement
for further computerization of the Registration of patients in SMGS
Hospital.
