Jammu and its associated hospitals are the premier heath institutions
of Jammu province located in the heart of Jammu city. Jammu province
consisting of six districts has a population of 43,95,712 as per
2001 population projections. Jammu is the most populous district
of J&K state. As per the projection for the year 2001, the estimated
population of Jammu district is 15,71,911 with a percentage growth
in population from 1981 to 2001 is 66.62%. This population has a
density of 390/sq.km. Out of this an estimated 46.83% is urban population.

of the college.
The institution started with a total of nine hundred beds and with
the inauguration of Medical College Hospital building in the year
1993, it has now increased to 1700 beds including various associated
hospitals.
