Undergraduate Teaching
The college underwent enhancement with regard to
MBBS admissions from 65 to 75 and then from 100 to 120 plus 4 per
year (over and above the normal intake capacity earmarked for non-permanent
resident candidates only and cannot be transferred to any other
category).
Candidates seeking consideration for MBBS courses under NR, NRDP,
PMF, SIG categories must have secured 50% marks in the qualifying
examination as in the case of candidates under the open merit category.
The details of seats for all these categories are at follows:
NR-Children of Non-Permanent Resident employees of the State and
Central Government offices or institution run by the state and central
government serving in the state and who have the continuous service
of not less than 15 years in the J&K state.
Pre-requisite for Admission :
Age-17 years on 31st December of the year of admission
Qualification – 12th Standard/Premedical
or its Equivalent.
Method of selection :
Strictly on the basic of performance at the qualifying public examination.
Competitive entrance examination .Based on Entrance Exam held by
Competent Authority Entrance Examination(CAEE)
Minimum percentage of marks For admission
to MBBS Course.
Open Merit :50% of the total marks in English &Science
taken together at the qualifying Examination.
Reserved Categories :40% for S.C,Gujjar,Bakerwalls
& candidates For Leh and Kargil Districts

Post Graduate teaching
The need of specialists in different branches of Medical Sciences
and in development of efficient health care delivery system, resulted
in introduction of various Post-Graduate courses in the college.
Presently, the college has postgraduate courses in all the major
disciplines of Medical Sciences (113 seats of MD/MS/Diploma) which
is comparable to probably any well established P.G. Medical College
in the country.
The PG admissions are being held regularly every year. 120 students
were admitted to various post graduate courses. The various post
graduate courses include Medicine, Radio-Diagnosis, PSM, Gynaecology
& Obst, Physiology, Surgery, Opthalmology, ENT, Orthopaedics,
Anatomy, Diploma in Orthopaedics, Pathology, Paediatrics, Anaesthesia
and Radio-Diagnosis. MD course has been started in the discipline
of Dermatology this year and in the pipeline are MD course in Blood
Transfusion Medicine, Forensic Medicine, Microbiology and Psychiatry.
With this the institution could boast of having post graduate course
in practically all specialties in the college.
